Main activities
With regards to the Zoo’s inhabitants, do visit the section where the peacocks reside that also includes catching a glimpse of a white peacock. With some luck, you may be able to see these animals posing for the camera. Next up are the fish tanks, which contain an assortment of species that come in a host of colours. Even with smaller children, observing the fish will not be an issue, given that the tanks are positioned at eye level. However, for a feeding frenzy like no other, do focus your attention and energy on the Koi pond where as many as 2,600 of these fish are known to reside. As a word of advice, no sooner you or your children drop the feed into the pond, be sure to stand a short distance away from the pond as the koi can become quite aggressive, which can result in water being splashed about uncontrollably. Next in line and well worth a mention is the ostrich enclosure. As these big birds have a tendency to poke their long, slender necks through the bars whenever visitors begin crowding around, it is advisable to use a handle pail so that you may safely feed these animals their favourite food – long beans. No sooner you finish off enjoying your time with the ostriches, look forward to visiting the cows, donkeys, horses, camels and baby goats where you can easily pose with these animals. Further, have the kids bottle feed the baby goats that will certainly add to your catalogue of memories in Desaru Coast. As mentioned, Desaru Mini Zoo is a petting zoo and one of the best ways to spend time here and give the kids the perfect opportunity to interact with members of the animal world is to have them hold and cuddle their favourite critter. These range from baby chickens, ducklings, hedgehogs, guinea pigs, lizards and even snakes.
