Step One – Where Can You Go Parasailing?
In the Maldives, as you can imagine, water sports are one of the main highlights for tourists to enjoy. There are all kinds such as jet skiing, water skiing, stand-up paddle boarding, scuba diving, and more! And, some resorts offer parasailing as well. For example, Anantara Veli Maldives Resort for one has been known to offer this activity to its guests in the past. However, it may not be available all the time. While some water sports such as jet skiing are very common, parasailing is not an activity that every resort can cater to.So, if you want to enjoy parasailing in the Maldives, make sure to check that your chosen resort does offer it before you book. You can check the water sports or leisure activities section of the resort website to see what activities they offer. However, sometimes, activities such as parasailing may not always be listed there along with the more widespread activities such as scuba diving and jet skiing. So, it's recommended that you inquire directly with the resort, as they might not list the full range of water sports activities that they offer on the site.
Step Two – How High Will You Be Soaring?
If you're afraid of heights, then parasailing is not the water sport for you. While other water sports like jet skiing and water skiing require you to zip across the waves, parasailing requires you to glide over it, high up in the air. Expect to be around 800 feet high in the sky – to put this into perspective, this is roughly the equivalent of gliding through the sky at a height that's equivalent to being on top of a 38-floor building. And if that's not high enough for you, some parasailing operators might even agree to take you higher to about 1200 feet in the sky. Of course, how high you can go also depends on a number of factors such as the wind condition for one. Other factors that impact just how high you can get up into the sky include the maximum speed that the speedboat can achieve as well as the weight of participants.
Step Three – Make Sure to Wear the Right Parasailing Gear
In terms of dressing up before your parasailing session, before you leave your Maldives bungalow or villa, all you need to do is dress sensibly for the weather. The safety gear that you'll need to don before the activity will be provided by the water sports centre that operates the parasailing activities. What kind of protective wear will you need to put on? Make sure that you and whoever else you're going parasailing with are given well-padded helmets, harnesses, and life jackets.
Step Four – What Can You See Up There?
The Maldives is one of the most scenic seaside destinations in the world. The country is practically all turquoise waters, with some gorgeous, sandy islands peppering its waters here and there (that makes sense for a country that's over 99 per cent water and less than one per cent land). When you're that high up in the sky enjoying the thrill of gliding through the air, you'll be able to enjoy stunning views of never-ending blues all around as well as get a bird's-eye view of some paradise isles.
