However, they are at their optimum from June to October while during other parts of the year, they may not have the same swells and abundance of water.A gleaming curtain of water dropping from a great height is not only beautiful, but it also has a therapeutic effect on visitors such as those at many resorts in Khao Lak. The children find the vista a spellbinding one and love to visit these waterfalls. Some of these waterfalls are within National Parks which have a nominal entrance fee, your experience is well worth that amount. Wear comfortable clothing and good shoes as there will be distances to trek, wear or carry your swimwear as these may have refreshing pools enticing you to do just that.Motorbikes and tuk-tuks are the best way to get about when visiting these waterfalls.
Sai Rung Waterfall
Sai Rung Waterfall, meaning Rainbow Waterfall in the Thai language drops from a height of 20 m making a large natural pool of clear water. It is safe and is the perfect spot for a dip during tropical afternoons. Many visitors also linger to enjoy a picnic near the falls. Located in Khuekkhak, it is only a short motorbike or tuk-tuk ride from hotels such as Avani+ Khao Lak Resort in the downtown area.There is no entrance fee to this waterfall, the only charge will be for parking of the vehicle.
Lampi Waterfall
Taking about a 30-minute ride from Khao Lak, Lampi is a beautiful multi-layered waterfall that gushes down to a deep plunge pool within Lampi Waterfall National Park. It attracts many visitors who pass by to stop and admire this beauty. Some stop at the car park and walk to the waterfall which can be covered in a few minutes. As the pool is deep not many visitors may go in, however, they enjoy admiring the falls and if feeling peckish there are many food stalls to fill you up. The entrance fee to the park covers the charge for the falls.
Ton Chong Fa Waterfall
This impressive Waterfall is about 7 km from Bang Niang Market. A part of Khao Lak Lam Ru National Park in an area of rainforests it is fed by the Bang Niang Canal the waterfall has 5 levels and the approach to the falls is an exciting trail offering glimpses of many species of birds. Nature lovers simply love this trail just as much as the magnificent waterfall.Listen to the sounds of rushing water as you approach and witness the vista of it falling over random boulders into a pool inviting visitors for a dip, which most of them enjoy doing. The entrance fee to the park covers the charge for the falls.
Ton Prai Waterfall
Situated about a 40-minute drive from Khao Lak, Ton Prai offers tranquillity to visitors and is worth doing the trail of nearly 700 m along bamboo bridges and a medium rough path.The triple-layered waterfall exudes serenity and is not crowded, hence allowing visitors to enjoy the falls for longer. As the trail can be wet and slippery during the rainy season, it is ideal to do this during the dry months.
